Initially I started off with the amp behind my seat and I thought I'd keep it simple and use it to power the door speakers, but after a little while I found I missed the bass so I made a little box and fitted a single 10" sub and ran it off the same amp.
But it didn't boom enough so I thought I'd get a monoblock amp and juice it up more, looking for places to put the amp I decided it was best under the passengers seat since I kept my tool box behind my seat and that was ok for a week or so, then I decided that I needed a bigger sub.
Since I had already run dual power supplies to the amps and pulled out the whole interior to do so I kept them where they were, but alas I couldn't fit a big box behind my seat without moving the amp so it was moved to the passengers side and I made a big wooden box for my new sub.
That lasted for another week until I saw how to make a fiberglass box and it was all set to do what I have now.
This all took about a month from me being happy with a set of speakers in the doors and front dash to having my amps, sub and speakers all done.
Right now I'm thinking of moving the black Panasonic speakers into single fiberglass speaker pods in the top corners in the back area and fitting a set of 6-1/2" pioneers in the door pods so it looks nicer.

So did you get a design decided on?
I'd definitly go for a single fibreglass box behind your seat, 2x 10" subs, maybe build the amp into it so it's all tidy too.
If you haven't done any fibreglassing before I wouldn't let it bother you, I hadn't done any before and my stuff turned out alright.
Just some pointers which might come in handy, the airspace inside the panel's no good for a speaker box, the hole is too small to utilise it properly and it's too hard to seal, I also had a look at those low height subs, just in case you were thinking of using them, they're only about 3" deep overall but the box they have to have is pretty big, so you might as well just use a normal sub and spend the money saved on something better.

if you dont have enough air space you can always use polyfill,,comes in 1 cf bags usually at fabric shop ,to seal it up properly just resin the inside real good ,and use chop matt .99% of the time people do sealed for glass sub boxes ,and in truck you can make them sound just as good as wood ,not as low as ported but ,they look great ,and can sound great here are a couple of glass pics i have of sub boxes, these are older ones ,but sounded great ://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp228/sosatheshark/bubbasbox.jpg

Those boxes make mine look below average, that's for sure.
Not very practical if you still want space in the back seats though.

Oops sorry, wasn't having a dig or anything, they still look really good and give plenty of idea's.
I kinda wished I had incorporated the amp into the sub box now, (like the first pic) but my skills aren't that good.

Okay man, I like to keep the space in the back of the cab, extra person, tools, clothes, etc. Since I have a notch the bed has things that fall through it lol. I haven't customed I small stow away spot in the bed yet, so I use the inside cab alot. These are JL 8" subs. I just got the amp so it isn't all prettied up yet. The amp don't push enough but it's cool for now. To bad I can't take the credit, dude I bought it from had it done already. Plexy glass cutouts with subs installed into them with dynamat on the inside behind the subs. They hit pretty good if your not looking for "HUGE BOOM". There is still work to be done. The amp is in the "jack's" spot behind driver seat.

is that an 8w0 is the side? I always thought it would sound "hollow"? wanted to try it but not got around to it. hats off to you for trying something different man. does the plastic go back over it or is it trimmed to go around it?
