if i clean it, sand it, and plastic primer it, can i use any paint i want? or do i still need to use vinyl/fabric paint or plastic paint such as SEMs, Plastikote, Dupli-color, or Krylon Fusion?

Yeah it should be fine after the plastic primer. Do you have a spray gun?

To fill the gaps I would cut a flat piece out of metal, and inset it similar to how you have done your deck and paint to match.

You should be fine using any automotive paint over the plastic primer.

On my civic I did 2 coats of Adhesion promoter, then the same base and clear I used on the exterior.

Yes, I agree. Very green!! What would one be thinking to paint the whole inside that color? Afraid of not see the inside at night time, lol?

HAHA, yes it's bright. I've had people say they have never seen so much green in there life. It's also covered in metal flake.

Now get back on subject!

If you want it smooth just make sure you sand all the texture out of it before you prime it. if you try and fill it with primer it will want to crack out. I sanded mine with 120 then 180 the 220 then 320 and then wet sanded it with 400 then put 3 coats of primer on and let it sit for as long as i could so it would get all the sovents out that it could.

that looks good i like the color... but im not completely smoothing it i just wanna change the color for now, im thinking im gonna clean it, sand it with 400 grit, clean it again, prime with dupli color filler primer, and then spray with krylon fusion and hope for the best

I would use red scotch bright it will get in the little nooks and crannies more then the 400 grit. and use comet or get a sanding paste from a paint store. and get some plastic adhesion promoter before the primer. You wont need to use krylon fushion if you dont want to. It is ment to stick to plastic better then normal but you will be spraying it over primer not plastic.

ok scotch bright i can do, i thought i was only supposed to use soap and water to clean but ive got comet if its ok like you say, and the reason im going with krylon fusion is for the flexability part not the adhesion part.
