Sub to amp wiring help needed

ok ive got 2 mtx 12" svc 4ohm subs in a ported single terminal cup box. i only have a 2 channel massive amp at the moment, which is not stable at 2ohms. when i wire them parallel and bridged at 2ohms my amp gets extremely hot very quickly. when i wire them in series bridged at 8ohms im just not happy with the power. how can i wire my subs to my amp at 4ohms with only one terminal cup? if someone could simply let me know if i can and how to do this that would be great, thanks.

I don't see how you can because you can't just set the ohm load since it's dependent on the ohm load of the subs, and you don't have enough speakers to wires them in series/parallel.
What is the ohm load for each sub? 4ohms right?

Sounds like your amp can't handle anything under 2ohms. Is 4ohm the amp minimum load?
If the other channel isn't going to be used you could just add a terminal cup, or drill a hole in the back of the box for the other sub and seal it with liquid nails or something similar.

Just don't bridge them...Just wire them up str8 and crank up the gain...Or get a new amp!!! If it's not 2 ohm mono stable its gotta be small...jusmy2cent

Wire them up series-parallel and turn the box around. Try facing the woofers towards the back of the cab. This will help load up the woofers and maybe give you a little bump in output either that or your going to have to Nut UP and buy a different amp. You can't change the laws of physics.

The single cup in the box is your limiter. You are gonna have to just run the amp at 4ohm stereo where one speaker runs to each channel. You may have to run one speaker wire outside of the speaker cup to the amp and wire the other speaker through the cup or both out the box and bypass the cup.

I think his amp is a mono block. He can buy a quad terminal cup from parts express so it looks clean but his amp is the weak link.

no my amp is 2 channel so ya i know thats my biggest killer for power and quality i will eventually get a mono amp. other then that im just gonna run the second set of speaker wires through the port and run them at 4ohms unbridged. i was really only asking around to see if it was even possible to somehow get the same result through the single terminal cup but its not because the wiring has to be direct from the sub to the amp in order to run the subs at 4ohms. but thanks for the replys.

Ooops I thought it was a mono amp my bad. I would still turn the box around and fire those woofers towards the back wall.

+1 or at least up...bass is about reflection...it needs something to bounce off to work right

ok so i should turn em either upwards or to the back, that i can do except ive never hid subs before its kinda new to me lol. other than that if i run either 1 pair or both pairs of speaker wires through the port to the amp, should i worry a whole lot about them floppin around and creating yet another "rattle" or "noise" i dont want?
