Update: Pressure washed everything 24 years of shit is hard to come off I got the most I could get off the firewall is completely stripped, but all the factory undercoating shit is holding strong and putting up a fight so I gave up..

The motor is completey stripped and paint free, I believe im just gonna paint it a gloss black just for the fact when it comes time to paint the mazda it will some what match. Pics to come tommarow.

just to give you an idea, this was when i was installing my new radiator support


you can get some hi-temp engine paint from autozone or napa, semi gloss black or red or w/e color. i'm gonna paint my block w/ it, and right around the tranny tunnel on the firewall....

thats exactly what im doin man, its not gonna be jaw dropping gorgeous, I just want it to look nice and function nicely as well.

I think ima plan on dropping it back in on thursday.

But I ran into a slight problem, when we got this tranny every gear worked flawlessly, but nowwwww reverse doesnt seem to work. I dont know if its because it doesnt have any fluid and its dry or ?

I will say the engine doesnt look glamorious but it looks alot better than 342 different colors and built up sludge. Im not gonna spend 121 hours on detailing a 4 cyclinder motor thats gonna be removed in the future.


I got bored and painted the core support it looks alot better makes the grille look alot better to actually I was quite suprised.


2 coats on the firewall, its not finished as you can see some spray marks but I just wanted to give the general idea on what it looks like.


Tranny come out nicely I think.


Yeah, The rough area is undercoating 24 years of being caked onto it, it really dont wanna come off.


Messed with my gas door a tad, couple of high spots I need to knock back in and run a skim coat of filler over it and smoothen it out and spray it and its done.


My brand new fat ass starter, this thing is a beast compared to my old worn out one, lil over spray never hurt no body.

I got an extra gasket

could just be the lack of fluid that won't let it go into reverse, did you try turning the input shaft while trying to put it in reverse? sometimes they like to "hang" & not go in gear & all it takes is a slight rotation, & she'll slide right into gear!

nice progress pics...hopefully my engine bay won't be too much of a pain in the a$$.......it's got a lot of dirt everywhere, i could kick my own a$$ for going thru mud holes with it back in the day!
