Dude you gonna bring this thing to the show in Santa Rosa at the end of next month?

lol funny guy, no no shows especially by next month, i am going to try and get the skin and taillight fillers welded in this weekend if my buddy with the tig welder is gonna be free. and then fresh coat of primer

First things first get that naste bed liner out of there and see if you have a floor left. We took CID's out last weekend and one corner is rusted right out not a big hole but still those danm liners are crap.

I agree, I had major problems with my boxes that had those dang things in them too,

I smashed the box liner to pieces with a CAT !!
lol
well I thought it was funny , sometimes its fun to wreck something.

you don't need to tig weld your skin to the bed. it would be better to mig weld it. the tig welder will only warp it more, because you can't get behind to hammer out the tig weld it's pretty pointless to put that much heat (and time) into tig'n it.
slammedyota91   +1y
i was told tig is best because you have complete control over the heat?? i really dont know much about welding, either way we weld it lol this guys welds for a living so whatever he does he will do it best lol tomorrow evening when i get home i am going to tear the bedliner out im really afraid of whats underneath it. so when i am driving the truck under accelleration it pulls one way and decel it pulls another... what would be wrong there causing this issue?

In my experience, MIG welding has been better for sheetmetal. Tig is tough when stuff is so thin, and its easier to just set the welder real low and use it that way.

As far as the truck pulling, my Mustang does that. I'd guess you may need an alignment, or some of your balljoints and bushings, etc. in the front end may be worn out. I know the shit in my Mustang is pretty beat. It pulls to the right HARD when you hit the brakes.

usually a mig welder works way better from a time standpoint. when you weld, the metal gets hot then cools, right? well during that process the metal shrinks. you need to hammer and dolly it to get it stretched out again. you can't stretch a mig weld nearly as much as a tig or gas weld, but it's way faster. if you hammer a mig weld there's a chance it'll crack. anyway, there's no point to tig or gas weld if you can't get behind it to hammer it back where it needs to be. i'm sure your welder friend knows how to weld, but does he do bodywork? have him mig it slowly, and it'll save you time when it comes to slinging bondo. remember - the more heat the more warpage and tig is way more heat.
