The last couple weeks my room mates and I have been doing some major remodling to the ol' mazdawg. I finally got my 4-link, away with the days of a shity ass 2 link. We will mounting the bags on the upper bars with some universal air 13" extreme bags. All the link bars have have been layed out, just need to start fabbing the bridge bars for the bag mounts. Also the bed is being swapped out for a 4x4 bed, which I got a chance to start working on last nite. Got the Grant full skin welded up. Holy shit grant makes an awsome product. hardly any trimming. The bed floor disapeared along with factory seams and gas door of course. 4x4 fenders from Blazer pimps 'Lucky Dawg' (R.I.P) have been added. After getting a little turned on by the sawzall I decided to trim off.....well the whole roof. Shes gonna be topless for at least the summer till i get around to making a carson top. Other plans we be to send the wheels next door to be powder coated, and to get the paint work finished. I will be posting pics of progress tonite. There should be a bunch since this has all been happing the last couple weeks. Stay tuned.

This is what we started with. This truck has needed a face lift for a damn while.

The front end was tore down, pulled the engine etc. Ill focus on this end after the rear is complete.

Airlift bags suck. all four are done. bands popped in the front, and the brass inserts pulled out in the back.
Heres what we started with in the back.

After cleaning the frame of all the old bag brackets, and swapping the axle the crossmember was built.

the bars have been layed out. next will come the bridges to mount the bags on the top bars.
Heres the pics of cutting the top off. Pretty basic, but im gonna be cutting the windshield frame and glass down. at this height its way to tall.

Easiest way to get the cut line on top is to freehand it.

The line for the back was masking tape and spray paint.

I really like the way it looks without the roof, I have always liked convertible mazdas, is a carson top a metal frame with fabric stretched over it?

yeah, the frame shouldnt be to hard to make. I can have our upholstery guy at work cover it for me.

Why not forget the roof and just make it into a roadster. cut 3 inches out of the front glass weld over the door glass and put a nice clean roll bar behind the seats headrest high.
