Okay I changed the name of this project once again Keep It Simple Stupid ie: K.I.S.S.
This came about from reading Galen's and Max's articles in July '09 MT, and just the general theme of Back to Basic's. It seems somewhere in this build I have become wrapped up in making some kind of show stopper. I have lost just about any interest in the truck from this, there isn't any FUN left to be had with a mentality like this. So after reading these articles and some pretty vivid dreams last night I decided I had better re-think my way of building this truck before I cut it up for scrap metal.
I have to get back with the simple and clean daily driven idea I once had some time ago. I guess this means finding some stock grey carpet again, find some nice seats for the front that don't need recovered right now. Make a simple console for my air gauges, and switches. And voila the interior will be a go.
I plan still to finish the smooth fender tubs under the hood, and install the tail light fillers, but the tail gate is going away(chrome tailgate handle up for grabs) the fuel cell WILL stick out of the bed floor about 3", and so on.
will it get painted this year? will it be rolling on these 15" pathy's forever?...hope not, but meh as long as it rolls.
okay sorry about the posting the long heart to heart I had to have with myself anyways here is what some of the very little progress looks like, not much at all really. I plan to have the cell and air tank crossmembers installed this week and have the rear bags and valves mounted as well.
a nice shiny air tank that will never be seen cause it's under the bed
some nice shiny 4-link bars that, well you might see a little bit of them
and what the frame currently looks like out back, the fuel cell will be centered between the last 2 crossmembers and bolted up from underneath with two 1 1/2"x1 1/2" slash cut tubes that will run perpendicular to those cross members, should brace it up nicely
the air tank will go from the 2nd crossmember to the bag mount bar with some more 1 1/2" tube that will get pie cut so it flows to the different elevation.
and then I will add some lower shock tabs that I got from Dev, and the rear will be done.
