Hey Mikey if you need to ask me anything PM me buddy. Any ways your door is gonna droop a bit until you brace the door itself. Also did you weld something to tie both hinge pockets (the ones on the cab) togthere with say angle iron or such? After I got my pockets welded in I tied then in to the back cab wall with two pieces of 1x1 1/8 wall square tubing just in case, since yours is an extra cab i would say tie them in aroung the rear speaker area or so. Once you get everything welded solid you will have to adjust the door and new striker, also dont forget to factor in the weight of the door panel, solenoid, speakers, and such when adjusting the door. Heres a pic of how I braced the door.

thanks dave man you are a great help. i did brace in the door, just not as big a piece as you did. i used 2 smaller pieces in the holes at the back of the door. i think my main problem is that i cut too far into the back of the door at the back of the door hinge pockets and the door is very weak at that spot. i did brace between the hinge pockets but i havent braced them in the cab yet. the kit came with these brass inserts for the hinges. it seems that 3 goes into the hinge, and 1 goes into each side of the pocket and the bolt goes through all of that. i dont have enough of the inserts and in think i didnt use 5 on each hinge. that might be an issue too. just hate to pull it apart to check that right now. its been too cold outside when i get home after work. weekends have been filled with xmas shopping. im just gonna have to bite the bullet and freeze my ass off. i hate seeing my truck sit there. worst case i got another door i can start over with.

The bushings might be you problem. Mine are from FBI each hinge has three brass bushings that are long and two a bit shorter. I did mine long, short, long, short, long top to bottom. I did it that way so the long ones would overlap the pocket and hinge, if that makes sense. Also my door hinge pockets fit really snug I cut them small then ground them slowly till they fit tight, it took awhile but it worth it. They are about 3/8 or so from the window as it rolls down.

yeah that makes perfect sense on the bushings. i got the kit used but never installed and its missing some. you think brass pipe will fit if i find the right diameter and cut them to length? i think my pockets arent in the door far enough either. im gonna end up cutting stuff out, starting over, and taking a whole kit to do one door.....lol

Hey Mikey, What size plate did you use when you welded up the Z?
mazdawg(mikey)   +1y
i think it was 1/8 or something. i just remember walking around at the metal shop, picking up a scrap piece, and saying "this should work".....lol
