right now that was just a mock up, laying the steel out to get an idea. i think i want to run wood flooring on top of the frame from side to side instead of front to back like most trucks, and coat the wood with the herculiner or other roll on bed coating. i have thought about making holders along the sides for some removable bed sides using 2x4 vertical posts, and have been thinking of some kind of steel front wall with expanded metal as a window protector... but right now its just all ideas and thoughts. and i havent removed the 3in blocks from the rear yet, and that will drop the tires down more, along with putting the 2 leafs i pulled out back in and my 16s with 40series back on vs having stock tires just so it was on something other than blocks...

Herculiner is a great product for waterproofing wood, and it would look pretty good IMO with your black cab. What I ended up using for my wood bed was Spar Urethane high gloss. This gave it a clear coat look that beaded water when it rained.

here is a pic of the wheel rub when it was just starting, before the blow-out.

Here is a pic of the wood all shiny, still after being used to move around a full truckload of firewood.
