Anyone have any suggestions for which shifter i should or need to put in the mazda?

Locar makes a cool one that you can put custom shift knobs on and it comes in custom lengths, so you can get that monster shifter that reaches your headliner. I have a solinoid(sp?) controlled shifter on my Caddy. It is controlled by push buttons mounted under the dash. It was made by a company called "ASTRO" but I think they have been bought out. If your looking for a more budget shifter, look to Summit. They have like thirty different shifters. I like the looks of the B&M drag race style shifters too. It really depends on what type of trans you have and the look you want. (Turbo 350, 400 or 700r4?) Most of the shifters a universal anyway.

Oh yeah, and I would pick a cable style shifter, rather than a solid linkage style. It gives you the ability to mount it where ever you feel is more confortable.

From what I remember you dont need to change any of the linkage, just move the motor back
