PROJECT: MUD PUPPY

ok just so its not another useless picture post in my thread...

i swapped out the buckets for the bench. well the bench had a crappy rail on it so i figured 'just bolt up the rail from the bucket'. right? HELL NO! well i drilled a hole in the outside drivers rail and bolted it up. fit, but seat didn't wanna move very well. found the lil spacers that were orginally in the buckets and put them in. it made it so the bucket rail lined up with the bench. a lil tight but it works. the bucket rail is actually a lil shorter in bolt spacing than the bench rail.

also had to take out the bracket for the console.

then thought, i'd better adjust these seatbelt buckles. i tugged. NOTHIN. so i grabbed with both hands and braced against the seat.... HOLY HELL! i broke 'em hahahahahahaha. so yeah now i gotta go find me some new seatbelt buckles.

well i haven't done much with the mud puppy since i started on the 9c1 there a few weeks back. but i did git the room in the garage to pull the truck back in and start on the brakes. my friend who bought my old 86 years ago had an extra set of calipers layin around so he brought them down. $10!! woot! wrong. the passenger side was seized up. i'm just havin a hell of a time. went to the yard and bought one and the caliper was perfect. went to bleed... no. broke it clean off with the caliper.


i finaly got fed up and called the parts store. brand new one $40. be here tomorrow. then hopefully this weekend i can take the truck out with whichever nurse i decide to take.


yes, i've wisend up a bit. i'll take a nurse out so if i do anything like oh... kiss a tree. someone will be on scene!

oh yeah... i'm driving the mud puppy now!!! got the brakes all figured out, put a new coil in and was drivin it for a few days with a real bad miss. was gittin spark and all that but wasn't runnin on all 4. #1 wasn't firing. did a compression test. results...

#1 180 psi
#2 150 psi
#3 160 psi
#4 150 psi

WTH!? so yesterday i was gonna switch #1 and #2 injectors, see if it changed it, thinkin maybe the injector wasn't firin. as soon as i open the hood and start to pull the bolts i see that the clip on the #1 injector harness plug is broke and the plug isn't all the way on. pushed it on and fired up the truck. purrs like a kitten... with asthma. gotta put a piece of pipe on today cuz of an exhuast leak but man she runs nice.

was out on some backroads last nite runnin thru mud and climbin hills. did perty good. i was out there by myself so i didn't try nothin too extreme. DAMN its nice to drive something and not have your teeth rattled outta yer head. alrite well i'm out. gotta go do my exhuast. latery 'alls.

i know... lil outta the norm for this crowd but i'll post it up. we did bout 150 miles last nite all backroads. first mud hole we came too i looked over and sed 'wanna try it?' she sez 'GO FOR IT!' we went in and the truck bout sunk! we started laughin, she sez 'i didn't figure it'd be that deep!'

got'er stuck a few times but she crawled right out in 4-lo. it was a blast. the girl was lovin it. just me, her and a cooler full of beer. didn't git her home till 4 am!!! i actually figured it'd be a bit dirtier as much mud as i was slingin. man what a nite.









ps. yes. them's bud light stickers on the windshield...

well just great. think its locked in 4wd and i can't seem to git it out. i was turnin onto her road this mornin and it was fightin me to try and straighten the front wheels. now its gittin really tough to turn the wheel all the way left.

its never endin with me! hahahaha i took the passenger drum off to check if it was full of mud and 2 of the holder springs came off and the pins broke so i had to replace them. atleast there wasn't any mud also think that the t-stat was no good cuz its always runnin hot and i check today and it was leakin out the water neck. go to take it off and break the damn bolt. then i find that i have a small trans leak. think its where the line goes into the bottom of the radiator.


and here i thought i was gittin ahead...

I DO'ED IT!!! i got a new tranny line on. yeah i know not a big accomplishment but i was gittin p.o'd the nite i was tryin to do the steering then my folks took over my garage for bout a week and half with a damn garage sale. finally got it back in there yesterday and tonite i finished the tranny line! so i just talked to my supermechanic friend and he's gonna try and squeeze me in this week to git the front end fixed so me and the girl can go nite cruzin on the dirt roads.

well yeah i did the sweetest day thing... went and picked her up, had dinner, movie... all that stuff. to start it off i was headin to her house in the mud puppy and was takin a bend in the highway. runnin bout 65, and the front end got reall shaky. then started hoppin a bit. had to fight it hard. bout rolled me over. got to her house and checked, the pitman arm loose. so i limped it home on the backroad nice and slow. it was bad. bout 35 mph it was shakin horrible at that point.

parked it for the nite and started in on it the next day. there was no way i was gittin the pitman arm off myself. broke a pipe wrench on it! so i called my friend and asked when he was gonna be in the garage. "wutcha needin?" i sed my pitman arm is shot. "well i'm cuttin wood right now. the sooner i git done, the sooner we can git in the garage and start drinkin." i sed oh ok. "thats a hint," he says. hahahaha so i jumped in the truck and helped cut a load of firewood. man is it a load. he has 1 ton helper springs on his truck and it was squattin on them.

so we got it all done and we had to disconnect the swaybar heat it with the torch, and use a 5 foot breaker on the nut. that was a work out! the thing was about to fall apart. amazed it didn't on the drive to her house. i didn't feel safe takin her on the highway with it like that so like i sed we limped it home on backroads. just got all 4 tie rods today so i'm probly gonna be doin that this week so we can use mine to haul a lil bit of wood with.






and for those that remember last years wood cuttin and are wondering.... i got hurt cuttin wood this year! hahahaha went to pull a log outta the pile and the pile shifted and smashed my finger. same one i bout cut off 2 years ago. stung a lil bit at first then i got the pukey feelin. swolled up perty quick. its broke. can't bend it at all. hahahaha.
