Did the Ford ranger headlight conversion today, with alittle help from the tech forum on this site. I found the topic was missing a few steps tho or is it just me? Anyways here's how i did mine today
Got the grill out of the shed and placed it onto a sturdy stand
Traced the headlight onto a piece of cardboard then transfered it onto the grill. Using masking tape to prevent some scratching
My tools of choice
Take your time cutting and cleaning up the edges.
Test fit a few times making sure theres nothing on the back side of the grill thats getting in the way, had to clean up the back of the grill, a few tabs and bulk plastic
Now time to get rid of the stock adjusters, went to the local parts store and bought replacement bolts for the lower bolts which will snap rite into place where the adjuster was mounted, cost 4 bucks so well worth the hassle
This is what it looks like after, all three bolts are the same..
hold it up the the rad and place the bottom two into the holes that are factory and mark where the top bolt hits the support, now drill... here pictured in the top left is the hole i drilled..
Now for install i picked up 12 of each, nut, lock washer and washers, I used a set on both sides of the rad support this is so you can lock it into place and able to adjust the headlights later
Just adjusted the headlights by eye for now untill i get the grill on and then I can fine tune it to where the are flush
After alittle adjusting they fit pretty good
Now onto something else, maybe finish wiring the truck lol
