What up man, I think that everyone is afraid to post first. but as far as no modifications that's probably not possible. I would go with the tried and true Ford 9" rear that's what I'm gonna put in mine regardless of the engine I put in.

i think it depends on what you are planning to do with the truck...ive been running the stock rear end behind a SBC and have had no problems...so far. But if i ever do ill probally be going with the ford 9"

how is the gearing with it? cause im running a 302 and every one tells me that the stock rear end is geared too low.

llike i said...depends on what you are doing with it...i drift mine so it works fine for me..as a daily driver...maybe different. As what gear ratio you should have?...no clue.

The rear end in these truck are Dana style aren't they? But there durable as Hell either way, off-road my old one was awesome high speed 4 wheel drift it held up but the stock motor doesn't do much so keepin the rpms up was key lol

8.8 Drive Axle, practically everyone is using it. It is popular in a many swaps. GTO (New), Rx-7's ect.. This rearend is lighter than a 9-inch and is as strong as a 12-bolt, and many Mustangs came from the factory with Traction-Lok limited-slip differentials. This rear ends are everywhere and you can get one for $100 dollars or less. If you get a 8.8 the weakest link in the rear end IS the axles. So swap out the axles and you'll never have to worry. There are people running 10's on these diffs with only aftermarket axles.

GEAR RATIOS
Factory 8.8 Gear Ratios
(with Traction-Lok)
2.73
3.08
3.27
3.55

But the only 8.8 i have seen under a B2200, the guy that did had it narrowed as well. And there was some pictures floating around google somewhere about someone else doing it. And they also had it narrowed.

I'm putting a 10 bolt Chevy LSD rear from an S10.
It's the narrower version of the same rear that was in the Formula Firebird that donated my engine and transmission.

I've gone through 2-2600i rears and 1-2200 rear... so don't believe anyone who says that the Mazda rears will hold up.
They are strong if you're talking about weight loads, but they show their weakness when you put the power to them!
