I believe the S10 rear needs the spring perches to be moved.

I really like the 2. 73 of the 8.8 what ratios did the 10 bolt s-10 rears come in?
sincitylocal   +1y
There are two versions of the 10-bolt.
The S10 used the 7.5"(and 7.625") ring gear... not the 8-1/2".

Here's a link for the gears available for series 2 and 3.

I know that there are lower(numerically) gears available for the 10 bolt, but Jegs is setup more for the race enthusiast.
Gears are differential specific:
2.73 -3.08 with series-2, or 3.23 and up with series-3.

these 10 bolt axles are the ones out of the older square body s10's with the v6 right? and with the spring perches, if im doing air ride it dont matter right?

All of the S10s had them.
Some of the newer ones even came with LSD, and disc brakes were an option too.

hmm. ok i'll keep that in mind. so this axle should fit? because if im going to pay to get an axle shortened i'd pay for my 9 inch befor buying and shortening another

There's somewhere around 1 inch difference between the Mazda and S10 rears.
I don't recall which is which.

I'm running the stock rear end in mine, with an FI (Megasquirt) stock 5.0L - so maybe 250 HP at the crank. I have a World Class T5 from a 2.3L 4 cyl Mustang in mine, which has lower gearing than the ones found behind the 5.0's. I find the gearing to be a little too low for my liking. I wouldn't mind getting some taller gearing.

I've heard that the stock rear ends will hold up, unless you start doing lots of burnouts and donuts etc. I'm surprised, given this, that yours has lasted, being a drift truck.
