Needing more power in my 1994 B2000 I decided to hunt around Trademe (NZ eBay) and picked up a B2600I alternator cheap from a guy wrecking a Mazda Proceed, has anyone fitted one of these to a B2000 before?
looking at it I'd say I can modify the bracket with some shims to move the pulley forward into the right position, I'd need to swap over the pulleys as well but what other stuff do I need to do?
Does anyone have info as to which wires go where also?
They both have 2 wires going to a plug

wiring might work, don't know how well it'll line up. Also not too sure what the differences are between Australian and American alts for the B2600i.

Yeah lining up might be an issue so I'll probably need to put packers on it until it lines up, wiring is my main concern, as to which wire goes where?
Looking at my current one it has two wires, both are striped white wires, one slightly fatter than the other, the new alt has a red one and another color (blue maybe?) but they're both the same thickness.
I'm thinking of pulling the wires out of one plug then fitting the terminals into the other one, so it won't need any cutting or soldering.

All this hassle to go from 50a to 75a output, need more power for the stereo is all

dude 89 RX7 alt is an upgrade, complete bolt on harness is the same. same housing, just minus a port to plug the choke wire into.

Really?
Man I wish I had known that before I bought the one from the proceed.
89 RX7, so that's the series 5 then?
Porsche 911 shape with the round brake lights?
Or the S4? (same shape with square lights)

not much of an RX buff, I just remember a classmate of mine working on his and noticed that his alternator looked a lot like mine. We put the two next to each other within minutes and were rather impressed. When I learned that his was a 70 amp alt I went out and got one for myself. Also $5 bucks cheaper

I also think that the housing for a 93 RX is also newer, but the wires on the back are different. I think that those were even higher.

Did the swap, you were right, dropped straight in, upgraded from my stock 50a to 80a, the only other thing I needed to do was swap my 13mm belt to a thinner 10mm belt as the pulley on the rx was smaller

pulleys exchange too

Yeah, I tried swapping them but after half an hour of struggling to get the pulleys off my old alternator I decided that it was just easier to buy a smaller belt.
I needed a new belt anyway as I run a electric fan now and my current belt was too long (no tension adjustment left) and the 10mm belt had one at the perfect length

impact is your friend here for sure. I am glad that you got it installed and working
