Yeah thanks for that, without your advice I would've probably struggled to fit the B2600I alternator in, I wonder why I'd never heard of doing that swap before.

I know this is an old thread, but in case someone comes searching...

On two wire alternators, the basic idea is, it charges when both are hot. I had to research this because the geniuses that had my B2000 before me for some odd reason thought that it needed an '85 Cavalier alternator on it. I've had to some cheap custom work on the bracing (hurricane tie, believe it or not).

Anyhow, I looked at the internal wiring diagram for typical two wire alternators and saw that this is the case. The POs simply took a single wire from the fuse box, to a switch, then to the alternator and split into two for the connection. Kinda sketchy, but it works.

As per rewiring, my friends 1980 Mitsi L200 (Dodge D50 in USA) his alternator died and the only replacement we found was a mid 80's one which has a different plug (2x vertical connections instead of a "t" shaped one) can we just cut the wires and solder on a new plug, how do I know where each wire goes? Any ideas?
I also have my old B2K one, if that's easier to fit
