that head gasket is definately blown enuf to cause water leaks, i blew one in my mitsubishi lancer and it billowed white smoke however when i took head off it and took gasket out it looked fine, but i put in a new one and it was fixed.

I know this is an old post, but I'm going through the same thing, only my crank pully has been removed and put back on a few times and I couldnt tell you where it was originally. I have however turned the motor by hand to where the #1 cylander is TDC.

Also my cam sprocket doesnt have a 1,2,3,4 or an a,b,c. All it has is a #4 and a triangle.

I am assuming that since the cylander #1 is at TDC this is where it needs to be as far as the crank is concerned...i HOPE anyways.

So where does the cam pully need to be? on the triangle or on the #4?

Not sure this helps at all, but when I pulled the head yesterday, at TDC, the arrow about lined up pointing right at the top of the head, and the 4 was at about 2-3 oclock. yours may be different

That's about where it will wind up.

Now I just need to make sure its on the compression stroke

My #4 mark is to the left of triangle. Which would put it at the 9-10 oclock position.
