On my 83 weber conversion the linkage DID NOT match up right; however it was no so far off that i couldnt throw together a franken-linkage from pieces i mostly already had from the stock carb.
Looking from the front of the car, the carb throttle control sits about an inch to far to the left from where the stock linkage sticks out, but the distance from the firewall was correct!

As for the emmision stuff..... i have about 10 vacuum caps that i can think of on the intake; and i carry spares becase they fail routinely! I threw it all away, charcoal canister and all.

Also i have the EGR control diaphram capped but still installed.... The metal tubes coming from the exhaust could be totally removed; i just cant break the rusted threads on mine with hand tools.

You will however notice 2 fuel lines that should be hooked up proper with a "T" splitter to a check valve (facing towards the tank) on the return line and the other hooked to a Fuel Pressure Reg set to 3.5 PSI.
I have the vent tube, venting to the drivers side wheel well, you could however leave the charcaol can and vent it to that if it isnt too plugged up.

Thanks for the reply, if I remember correctly the directions stated to plug/cap off the return fuel line. In this case your saying you hooked it into a T using a check valve to return the fuel to the feed/supply line?

There are three steel lines running on the drivers side, one is the fuel, one is the return and the other is a vent; all come from the gas tank. I have the main fuel line connected to a T-splitter, the return is also plugged in to this (on the perpendicular port), the T now connects to the REG, this pumps into the carb.

The vent can go into you Charcoal Canister; or if your like me and already trashed it.... find a hole in the body away from sparks/hot stuff and...vent it....

It is now sitting @ 4 PSI (at least it says it should be) with the return line hooked up with a check valve insuring fuel only flows to the tank. It took significant trial and error to get this setup and it works great. If you run the return after the regulator you wont get enough gas with throttle open, it did idle though....
Still planning on getting a Leaner Idle Jet (takes 2 seconds to swap out!).

Hey im having trouble with my 84 that i just put a weber on. When i get up to around 25-35 mph it starts missing. I just noticed you said something about the "T" that you did. I also did a T, but I took both of the lines that went to the old carb, and T'd them together and directed them to the 1 fuel fitting on the carb. Did you do something else with one of your fuel lines? I just briefly read about the whole T fitting, but did I do this right?!

Well i got to thinking about this a bit more and busted out the fuel pressure guage, and tested my setup and in true F.O.R.D. (fixed or repaired daily) fassion i had to fix it. Basically all i did was move the pres regulator to the return line, cramked it down so it limited the flow to through the return back to the tank.
I think that what is happening at high rpm for you is instead of filling the float bowl on the carb the fuel prefers to return to the tank (path of least resistance). I made sure with a guage that the weber was not getting more than 3.5 psi, infact the most i saw out of the fuel pump was 2 psi!

The whole fuel thing is frustrating me aswell; your not alone.

For simplicities sake pluggin the return line (i think you should leave the vent alone and let it vent...) and hooking up a regulator for good measure is probably the easiest way to go.

If its not to much to ask, could you post a couple pictures of your set up? Also, which one of the lines is the return? I noticed when I took the fuel lines off that one of the lines was bigger on the inside than the other. Im guessing the smaller inside diameter one is the return? And is there already a stock pressure regulator on the truck that i could take off and move it to the return line or do i just need to buy one? Thanks I really appreciate the responses!
