Tach Problems

ok ever since my truck was parked (since this past april) ive driven the truck a few times before i did the rebuilt swap. now it will only go to 3k and no further. its fine from idle to 3k.... any ideas?

Check your carburetor secondary.

It might be stuck.

Check your choke plate.

It might be stuck.

Check your distributor advance plate.

It might be stuck.

sorry may not have been clear enough. the motor will rev and drive past 3k, just my gauge wont read past 3k

I think if this is the truck you pulled the ECU out of, you may have removed something the stock tach requires to operate correctly. From the diagram, the stock tach signal monitors a signal that the ECU is normally supposed to receive. (2A)
