i just had my engine completly rebuild with rebuild head and new pistions and oil pump and water pump when i got it home i hurd a noise tickn from top i think i was told it could be the cam or lifters or rockers which ones u think it would be thanks

2.2L 2184cc L4 2BBL SOHC and where do i get parts from

its your lifters ticking. They are hydraulic and terrible design. You can replace them with new ones but it wont last and the new ones could be ticking within a week. Best thing to do is get the cam and rocker assembly from a b2000 and swap them in to your head since they are solid lifters and do not tick when properly adjusted. I have a how to thread on how to do this just search for it. Let us know what the outcome is!!!

where can i order some from rock auto

there is a chance to save the hydraulic lifers as well, but it involves taking them out completely. prime them in ATF and clean out the crap. when they get dirty they collapse. There's a thread about it over on Mazdatruckin that goes into detail.

I found it lol Justin do you feel like moving your pics over? I think you would of gotten even more responses if it wasn't linked to another site lol

Here you go I just moved it. Updated how to also. This how to is by Justin

okay this is a how-to on how to swap out your old tired ticking hydraulic lifters to the wonderful adjustable quite solid lifters.

1st step. put your b2000 head on your work bench
thread post photo

2nd step. pull the rocker arm assembly off and lay it to the side
thread post photo

3rd step. pull out the cam.
thread post photo

4th step. inspect the cam and rockers for gouges or deep scratches or things not suitable to put in your engine
thread post photo

5th step. go out to your 2200 engine and make sure your engine's number one cylinder is sitting at top dead center.
thread post photo

6th step. pull your valve cover off
thread post photo

7th step. pull your timing belt off lay it to the side. pull the timing gear off of the cam and unbolt the front housing on the head.
thread post photo

8th step. pull your rocker arm assembly off and cam out. may be a small pain if you have a mechanical fuel pump. but should roll right out.
thread post photo

9th step. take the rocker arm assembly in and lay it on the work bench beside the solid assembly. in picture solid on left and hydro on right.
thread post photo

10th step. carefully disassemble the solid assembly and lay it out exactly the way you took it apart. very important you don't mess the order up
thread post photo

11th step. do the same for the hydro setup
thread post photo

12th step. carefully swich the solid rockers with the hydro rockers one at a time. until all of the solid rockers are in order with the caps you took off of the b2200 head. this is important because the caps were machined to fit that head and need to go back the way they came off.
thread post photo

13th step. put the assembly back together. making sure that the holes in the slides are lined up with the caps.

14th step. trace out the gasket that goes between the rocker arm assembly/head and the front housing. the reason i say this is because you cant buy it as a single gasket even through mazda. you can go the local parts store have them pull out a headgasket set pull the gasket out and trace it on a piece of cardboard.
thread post photo

15th step. cut it out exactly the way its traced and lay it on some rubberized fiber that you can pick up at the parts store while your there. trace it out and cut it out. this is now the new gasket. you may want to make a few of them because they tear easily. i got mine for like 5 bucks, and now have plenty left over.

16th step. now install the cam, gasket, front housing, rocker assembly, exactly the way you took it off. i have more pics of the installation but camera is messing up.

TIPS

- make sure and properly lube everything when putting back together.
- make sure the cam is pointing at top dead center when reinstalling that way timing is easier.
- make sure you dont get the two cams mixxed up because you cant to my knowledge look at them and tell the apart.
- make sure and prep all the parts to go back together so you have no leaks in oil or water.

this was my first time doing this so if there is anything i missed or you have any more tips that will help feel free to post it up so everyone can do it the best way.
