Hey Everyone, I just bought a truck!!!! but it died on me 3 times. the guy said it needs the carb cleaned which was total bullshit, the truck is out of time. However i saw a wire coming from the coil to the dist. housing and it had tape around it. I touched it like an idiot and came off. so i figured that had to do with it running rough also and maybe i could get away easier than i thought, so i tried reattacing it best i could and when i moved it the engine would change speeds. although it also started when the wire was detached. another thing is when it died on my way home the coil wire completely jumped off the coil, so i think maybe that the ground had a bad connection and surged the coil wire making it pop off? Am i close? please tell me what this thing is. thanks in advance!

BTW truck is an 88 b2200 carb'd. the body is immaculate and so is interior, except one thing that sucks is the interior is MAROON!!!! thank god i got the truck for 600 bucks

Nah its definitely a ground. the people at the auto parts store can"t find it either so i might just rebuild it somehow. Thanks for the input though, more than I got from anyone else, AHEM...

That's a noise suppressor for the radio, mainly for AM. Marron interior looks nice in your photo.

What's the story on the red B2600i 4WD?

Noise suppressor or not, i soldered the wire better than it was and now the truck is running great, not kidding. I can floor it and it doesn't bog down or die like it was earlier today. But Thank you guys for the info I appreciate it cause i would be lost without this forum. I saw someone say that the only good thing a haynes manual is good for is starting a fire to keep warm lol.

I bought the 4WD from the original owner when I was 16 after I flipped a couple cars. I never really had problems with it until I let my girlfriend drive it from NY to GA. I marked the temp gauge where it would be over heating and told her to pull over if it happens. the first time was in tennessee and I ripped out the T-stat and it ran fine but it started overheating again only a couple miles from my house and she thought she could make it. . . That was in 08.... I just got to the head 2 months ago but its got 330,000 so i need to do the rings, rod bearings, crank bearings and oil pump. but right now money is tight so i bought another truck.
