ok so i posted a while back when i was beginning to put my 2.2 back together after having the heads worked over completely, ok now every things back together its in time as far as i can see with number one piston being at the top (TDC) before we started all this it wouldnt even crank, itd turn over , but wouldnt start, now everythings pretty much put back together and i got the exhaust cut in front of the converter in case of a stopped up converter, but it runs like shit, even with the gas pedal held to the floor it will barely break 3,000 rpms and it takes a few seconds for it to even reach that, im stumped, i bout this truck thinkin it would be a simple 4 banger carburated motor to work on if something happened but i was wrong, i need so input anything that yall may think help that i need to check or what not, btw its gotta weber 32/36 that came on it already and i dont know if i got the vaccumm lines all plugged off right, so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Have you checked the pre-cat?
It's bolted directly to the exhaust manifold.

i posted on another topic its not the alignment pin on the camshaft on the one im talking about is on the crank snout u have to remove the crank bolt and the 5 or 6 10mm bolts that hold the lower v-belt pulley on the crank use a puller and pull the crank pulley off the snout check it it see if its snug with my luck its never something easy on these trucks its always a pain i would check it just for piece of mind mine was slopped and the guy i had do the work welded the crank and die ground the keyway to set snug and tight again and what i was always told u cant weld on the crank causes stress well that lasted 6 months or so broke the front snout off replaced the bottom end and then my top end went now i just had to replace the motor sorry for the long explanation but its cheap insurance

People beat it in my head to make sure all of my vac ports were plugged. There are two on the bottom of the intake in addition to the ones on top. I had all capped off except the two on the bottom and one on top...and the one on top was in plain sight. Check the simple stuff first...like the vac ports. I had to make my own plugs with weed eater fuel line and a zip tie. I even hooked two of the ports together with a hose to stop the leaks.

Your issue could be vac related but it sounds like it's a timing issue.

Check your fuel filter for obstructions. Better yet...just change it out. These old trucks have a history of rusty tanks and junk in the tank.

I know it sucks but check and double check your timing belt and make sure it's on correctly and all of your timing marks are where they're supposed to be.

How strong is your distributor? I eliminated that from being a problem child by just replacing it.

How about the gaskets on your adapter plate for your weber? Did you use aviation sealer on them? Have you checked to see if you have leaks around the plates?

Good luck and post back. I rebuilt my engine 4-6 months ago and just FINALLY got it idling/running right. My issue was vac port leaks and the mixture screw on my weber 32/36. Adjusting the mixture made an UNBELIEVABLE difference.

ill check all the vaccuum lines again, and how do i tell if my distributor is strong enough? as for the timing weve put it at tdc over 3 times just to make sure, and as for the fuel filter its brand new, its the inline one by the fuel pump on the motor, i actually bought a aftermarket accel one just to be safe, is there any kinda filter or what not in the tank i needa check for? and which screw is for the mixture on the carb? sorry im not motor smart so all yalls input helps out alot and is GREATLY appreciated
