Ok well now. I set the crank with the keyway lined up, set the cam with the dot lined up, dist. Set lined up and won't start. I have the plug wires installed in the cap 1342 going clockwise, is this correct?
I did notice that with the keyway in the crank lined up I was not at TDC in cylinder 1, its to the left about 45 degs or so at TDC. Should I just set #1 at TDC and disreguard where the keyway is?

Sorry about my ramblings I'm posting from my phone out in bre!

Yep, forget about the keyway.
You should be using the timing mark in the crank pulley, and lining it up with the mark on the timing cover.

So I followed the website and still wouldn't run. I set 1 to TDC and that puts the lower timing mark about 45 degs out from where it should be and set the cam the way the website said and bam fired right up! Took for for a test drive but had to tow it home. Seems to have jumped time agian. Spits air and fuel out of the carb.
Belt looks good and everything is tight, wondering if the crank shaft is broke. Will take it all apart agian tomorrow and figure out what went wrong.

Have you checked Key in crankshaft pulley?

Well the key that I could see at the time looked good, well come to find out that "key" is built into the gear....DUHHH!

So I got the gear off this morning and found the key had busted taking a part of the crank with it :/ so now I'm not sure what I want to do with it...
Put a crank in it? Slap a new key and some jb weld in it and prey? Or just sell the dang thing the way it is?

I'm ok with putting a crank in it other then the fact I don't have a stand or hoist anymore nor do I have a shop to do it in (gravel driveway and So.Oregon rain is no fun)
Any thoughts?
