reinstalled tranny... NO FKN REVERSE!

ok so i rebuilt this motor and reinstalled the same tranny. reverse worked before i took it out and now the shifter wont go into reverse! doesnt even grind or anything. it just wont go back. any ideas. gettin pretty fed up with mazdas. oh and i noticed a drop or two of oil drip of my flywheel!? how can a brand new rear seal be leaking after the first test drive!

Have u check the linkage might need be adjusted a hair to click all the way in

linkage? its a five speed tranny.the shifter bolts right into the top of it.

A similar thing happened to me when I changed my clutch. I think it was the syncro I popped into place. I had to move the shift around through the gears for it to pop out and then I had reverse again.

ok. so i just remembered that before i took the tranny off that the two sensors on the tranny were wired in... now they are not... is it possible that im "locked" out of reverse? i know that one of the sensors is for reverse lights... but idk about the other. help!?

ok. got the truck in reverse! too bad now its stuck there. W T F! took the shifter out and it was dry. isnt there suppose to be oil inside of the tranny...lol. am i gonna have to pull this tranny out?

yes there should be tranny fluid. You should be able to pull fill plug until fluid comes out then then reinstall plug. I dunno why it would be stuck in gear though...unless your clutch isnt releasing. Truck is looking good btw

Gear oil can be added to the manual gearbox by removing the fill plug on the transmission side, and pumping some in (pump screws onto gear oil bottle). Some add from the top after tearing or removing the top boots, I know if I did that I'd get gear oil allover the interior.

I'd check/add gear oil to the differential while I had the stuff out.

On my '88 B2200 (mine since 1994), when starting off cold, I frequently find I have to move the gearshift mostly into reverse, then as I slowly let out the clutch a hair, I slide it into reverse fully. After I'm in the street, with foot down on clutch pedal, I move through forward gears 1 & 2 then put into 1st and drive away.

Well still no luck gettin it out of reverse . So im pulling the tranny today. I think my rear main is leaking anyways so I figured I gotta find this oil leak anyways...lmao. once I get the tranny down what am I looking for to get this to release? Or do yall think the tranny is messed up.
