I took my head off of my 2.2 and sent it to the Cylinder Head shop to get rebuilt.

I put it back together and it starts up fine, no smoke. BUT when it warms up its puffing white smoke. Any advise or troubleshooting tips will be greatly appreciated!

I assume u got a new head gasket, make sure to try and re-torque the head. I got a headgasket recently and it blew two weeks later. had to get another one. sounds like your getting coolant in a cylinder somewhere. does it pressurize really fast? spew into over flow tank any? and are u loosing coolant? sorry for all the questions

mazdafvr - Thank you foe the response!

New Head Gasket = Check!

Stepped torque the head to 65lbs = Check!

No over flow in the tank, it might be leaking. I did not troubleshoot because I got frustrated. I

id keep an eye on the coolant level if theres none in the over flow tank, and if its leaking, It wouldn't cause smoke unless it was leaking through the head gasket into the cylinder. if this was the case then typically the whole coolant system would pressurize faster than normal. make sure your not loosing coolant, if you are and everything else is dry then your head gasket might have went again, happened to me. I had water and steam coming out of my exhaust manifold when I took the emissions hose off. also had exhaust smoke coming out of my overflow hose. if your not loosing coolant, might just be running rich or burning oil. you can pull your plugs and see if any of them have more or different deposits left on them.

These engine start to smoke from more than one cause.
The rings could be bad and you're still thinking it's the head.

SinCityLocal - What would be your recommendations on testing the rings?

How many miles are on your engine, and how many times has it been hot?

Tomorrow I will run another compression check and check for coolant leaks.
