I purchased this truck for $150 as a project, the guy I bought it from said it was seized. I haven't had time to really take a good look at it but I did notice that the camshaft bolt and pin are snapped off. Previous owner said it died while driving, he also mentioned that it had an "oil problem". Also, it

Sheared the pin and broke the bolt? Holy smokes!

I'm guessing you'll need a new cam unless you can "easy out" the bolt and replace the pin.

If mine, I'd use left-handed drill bit (really) which will either loosen/extract the broken part or you'll just end up with a hole you can then re-tap and use a new bolt.

i was just going to back it out with an easy-out and put a new bolt and pin in, get her buttoned up and see if she fires up.

Yes it is. I would pull the cam and look really carefully at the journals.

The inner two will provide your most information. If the cam is scored up really bad and oil galley holes are clogged you are probably into the vehicle for a head and a new cam.

If the previous owner ran it with the oil light on for any length of time you might not have a frozen bottom end, but it may rattle and knock once it starts.

The good thing is you are only into this project for less than $200.00 to start.

copy that, theres a used head for sale locally on craigslist for $75 but its from a 2.0. ive read that they are a direct fit. can i just install the 2.0's head and cam onto my 2.2?

Yes. You will have to use a 2.2 head gasket. The 2.0 head gasket has an oil restrictor that is incorporated into the block of the 2.2 motor.

The other thing you need to verify is whether the 2.0 head is 87 or newer, the earlier 2.0 motors are chain driven timing belts so they won't work.

the only other thing you have to decide is whether you want hydraulic lifters (stock 2.2) or 2.0 mechanical lifters that you are going to have to adjust.

Had a little time to work on the 2200 yesterday, I attempted to use an easy out to extract both the Camshaft pin and bolt. As you can see, I was successful extracting the pin but not so much the bolt.. So my next move was to remove the camshaft and take it to a machine shop today (I
