1990 b2200 speedo is not working. I disconnected the cable from the cluster and also from the piece that runs into to tranny and spun it by Hand to see if it was broken also used a screwdriver to turn the fitting at the back of the cluster to see if it would raise the needle. Both worked. So now I know it's the piece going to the transmission. The problem is that I can't find the part anywhere. Any ideas on where I could get one or even the pinion gear or what gear I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You sure its not the end of the speedo cable that fits into the transmission? I think it's more common for cables to break than the transmission portion.

I am not sure, I didn't pull that off and check it, but either way I can't find that part either

Look at the transmission end of the speedo cable, it should have a small round tip with a "tab" that looks like it was pinched. if that is sheared off you'll need a replacement.

I have some available if you need one. Dan

I'll check it probably Thursday night. I got to thinking that since I have an aftermarket cruise control that was installed in the truck that piece might be a bit different with the speed sensor. You know anything about that?

I'm not sure what kit you have but last one I installed had a sensor attached to the drive shaft for speed input, OEM cruise units take the signal from the speedo.

That may be part of your problem.

It's on the speedo cable, there is a piece that comes off the transmission that's maybe a foot long that it picks the speed up off of, that piece has a screw in adapter that connects to the main cable. Just two wires running to it, both under the same point.

Share some pics of it you can.

I installed an Audiovox aftermarket cruise control on my B2200 back in 2003, and it had the option of putting a magnet/pickup on the drive shaft or running a wire from the coil negative terminal.

here are some pics of the cable I need, at least I think this is the problem. I pulled the other part of the speedo cable off and it works, so this is next to check.
