You can use the 12V head but the distributor is the issue, it won't clear the firewall. There is a 12V head that you can use but it is off a vehicle from Japan or europe good luck finding one - unless you are going to max out the HP - then I'd say you could probably gain the same amount of power by adding a couple psi of boost..

Yea I knew about the dizzy, my plan was to cut out the firewall and fab a make shift box with a door that I can open to get to the cap if needed but this would obviously not be appealing inside the cab. And maybe it wouldn't I'm not sure. Yeah I was wondering if the 12V head really made that much difference vs. the 8V if it was really worth the money and the headache.

Hey Angus if you do have anything extra that I could use (turbo mani, turbo, EFI mani, or entire EFI swap, ecu, harness ect. LMK and I will buy it! Here in Nebraska this stuff is hard to come by I've been to our import wrecking yard twice with no luck at all. I'll pay for shipping obviously too. It's up to you man.
- email
or message me on here if you would like.

Thanks,
Chance

This exactly what I would like to build!

I know it's a custom built plenum, but I have no idea what the dimensions are to build it. Any way you do or can figure it out? I know that the factory B22 EFI manifold will work great also, but I really like the looks of this. Do you happen to know what they all used to make this? I read HappyTealMazda's build thread on how to but I'm unsure on what manifold he originally started with? Is it a MX-6/Probe or a Factory B22 or a 626? Everything after that (injectors, TB, fuel rail, ect ect) I can figure out.......I think

If you could help me out that would be great man. Thanks.

Angus do you think you could help me build this if I can get the parts needed and ship them to you pay you for your fab work and for the shipping back??? I would really like to do this build for EFI but don't have the access to the tools needed plus I'm not a quality aluminum welder haha. I got all the measurements from orangemazda2000.
Let me know man either way. Thanks a lot bro.

I don't know exactly how this manifold was made, I'm sure that they took a gasket for the lower/upper and made that out of aluminum. 12v head will flow a good bit better, I know that with Xulf's different 12v head running a Weber 38 he noticed that his acceleration was a bit faster and he had power up through 5500 RPMs with the same carburetor/ignition/transmission/exhaust setup.

Well that's good news, yeah I figured it would being it has another valve per cylinder. In the long run after I convert to EFI I will be boosting it so I'm still contemplating weather or not to do the 12V head swap performance wise I know it would be a better set up but will be a bigger hassle with the dizzy issue but like AngusWilly said with boost if I was able to up the psi a couple numbers it would compensate for it using the 8V (I think).
I really do want to do it though, if I ran MS instead of the factory ecu from an MX-6 could I go distributor free saving the hassle of fitment with the fire wall?

absolutely. The best setup for such involves a trigger wheel being machined onto the crank pulley, so you can use the MS to trigger a ford EDIS unit. I found 2 recently from 1.9L Escorts.
