I owned a 1994 F150 3.9L i6, yeah they're a pain in the ass.. But to do the plugs & plug wires in the Previa takes minimum 2hrs..

Dodge Caravans, the first 3 plugs is easy, they're at the front, the rear 3, and at the firewall, and can only be accessed from under the vehicle..

Apparently not too different on the newer Frontiers; I have two of the 1st generation Frontiers, and mine are 4-cylinders, so a 15 minute job. But even the 1st generation V6 Frontiers have a challenging spark plug #6, I read that many just change five plugs instead. So when my daughter bought a '98 Pathfinder with V6 and 90K miles, I changed the plugs for her; it took me like 90 minutes total, I used a mirror and several extensions, maybe a universal too, to get to it. Actually more issue was caused by trying to get the $^&^#$%@# plug ends off the plugs 0 and I have a plug boot puller !!! Some people take the hood off to do that job, I didn't feel that would've helped, but for #6 I did lie across the engine compartment as I got #6, was glad I didn't snap any plastic stuff on the engine doing that.

I will say that the '98 Pathfinder actually has a trap door panel for fuel pump access.

I used to have an 85 Pontiac Grand Prix, basically a Monte Carlo but cooler. Getting to the number 6 and 8 spark plugs on the passenger side was a pain in the ass. Probably not like the Nissan. I think doing the other 6 took a half hour were those two took a half hour each. The heater box is mounted on the outside of the engine bay. But I will say everything else on that car was easy to work on.
Kinda wish I still had that car. V8 auto 3 speed that got 20 highway at 65mph for a car that weighed 3700 lbs with 120 hp.

I have heard that the Nissan ZX300 engine bay is one of the worst to work on. I can see why:

Its a twin turbo, intercooled V6.

Had a friend in high school that literally took his engine out of one of these everytime he had to do anything besides change the oil.

For me it would have to be the new Mini's, a specialty tool to remove the spark plugs, seriously!! Fuel pumps that fail every 30k like clockwork, molded 2 piece plastic thermostat housing that seems to leak even when new, tons of special little plastic clips that disintegrate if you look at them funny. Youd think for a company owned by BMW the quality would be a little better.

As for the old ford 4.9/300 I6 valve cover gasket, thats really a small price to pay for an engine that seems to run forever and a day.

I'd have to agree with the Toyota Previa vans... As well as ANY van with the engine tucked way under the firewall and under a hump cover inside.

Any vehicle you have to go inside the cabin to work on the engine is a huge pain...Its stupid. Having to keep your dirty hands, tools, parts off of the interior...

But one of the worst vehicles I've OWNED to work on was a 1981 FIAT X1/9. Being cluttered with fuel injection as well.
It was a mid engine car...
But you had access to the engine from an 18 inch wide engine cover. That's IT! You had a 6 inch square cover behind the passenger seat to access the distributor cap. Steel coolant pipes ran under the car, exposed to hazards and road salts. The radiator was V-mounted somewhere in the front end (I've NEVER actually seen one)

Neat little car, but what a insane nightmare to work on.

Newer VW's might seem daunting to some people. Going to do any engine work, you have to remove the front end (bumper/rad support) But its honestly like 6 bolts, clips and a few screws and you have the whole front off and access to everything. A lot of mechanics don't want to "go through that hassle" and try to work around it...and make 10 times the work by not spending 10 minutes and pulling the front off.

Chrysler town and countrys. I've pulled the transmission out of a lot of them (over 100) in a 3 month window.
