About two months ago on my way home I stopped somewhere for about an hour. When I got back in my truck the clutch was only working about a half inch off the floor and bearly engaging. I assumed the clutch had went out. Since then I have replaced the whole clutch assembly, slave cylinder and master cylinder and have bled the lines every way possable, it is still the same as it was. Nothing has helped and I am at my wits end on what to do. Can anybody help me? By the way it is a 1987 B2000.

i know you said you just replaced it but mine did almost the same thing and i put two new slave cylinders on mine one was defected it fixed my problem but check the play in the slave cylinder and did you bleed them till no air bubbles were coming out

I've had a slave and master cylinders go out on me, slave twice after rebuilds, also had to rebuild both the first time I had issues, and ended up replacing the slave with a new the second time.. Same symptoms--clutch pedal stays on floor and won't engage clutch.

I always bleed the clutch by having the fluid up, and someone in the truck. With bleeder closed, have them step on the pedal. Open bleeder till pressure releases, close bleeder (don't know if that's the best way but works for me!). Repeat as necessary. Remember you have a lot of line to push some air bubbles through, better to bleed a little more fluid through it, have plenty on hand and make sure to top off the master cylinder every 2-3 clutch depressions--if you let it suck in air you're back to square one again.

I have actually put three slave cylinders and two master cylinders on just in case I had gotten a bad one. I have bled the entire thing a few hours a day for a solid week. Believe me I have tried everything. I have had the trans out three times rechecking everything.

wow thats got me stumped as well you checked for kinks in any of the hydrolic lines

I have taken the whole hydraulic line off and checked it all the way through.

and you said that you have had the tranny out a couple of time are you sure the clutch isnt loose or installed properly im out of ideas i cant think of anything else that could be wrong everything iv thought of you have already done

Have a cup of coffee. Or a beer. Have someone push the clutch pedal down as you watch the movement of the clutch release arm on the side of the transmission. I'm thinking that the release arm should move about 1/2 inch at the slave cylinder side. Someone here should know exactly how much.

Anyway, that should isolate whether the problem is inside the bell housing, or in the clutch hydraulics.

I'm suspecting clutch hydraulics, maybe even a leak in one of its two flexible lines. That's from having my '88 B2200 for 18.5 years now. Yes, I've had the situation of the clutch pedal stuck down at the floor, too. New hydraulic cylinders cured that. I've been through several of each over the years.

The pedal doesn't stay on the floor it just engages right on the floor. The pedal feels strong like everything is working but it is not. The clutch release arm is moving at least 1/2 inch or more. So I guess it could be inside the bell housing.

And thanks everybody for the responses. I need all the help I can get. I am tired of driving my wife's car every day. lol
