My 89 B2200 been working flawsly until a stop at a drivethru. Turned motor off tranny in netural. Went to leave and I could not shift into gear. Turned motor off tranny shifted fine in all gears. Shifted into first with motor off and started truck and away I went with clutch depressed. Nursed it home and bought Clutch Master & Slave Cylinder and still the same. What Up?

Unlikely, but possible, but perhaps the clutch fork broke? Had that issue on a impreza 2.5rs i worked on a while back. Also proper bleeding of the system might help. We bought a master that had some issues, returned it under warranty and no more problems. Could be that as well. Just ideas to check.

Rockin - have someone repeatly push in the clutch pedal as you watch to see if the slave cylinder is pushing the clutch release lever on the transmission as it should. That should help isolate whether the issue is with the hydraulics or inside the transmission bell housing.

I'm assuming that you bench-bled the clutch master cylinder and then after installation bled the clutch system properly.

Slave cylinder is moving although I am not sure it is enough, I will look into. If it were something in the beel housing what might that be? It shifts just fine with the motor off so I don't think it is the tranny persay. Could the pressure plate be stuck to the disc or something?

The clutch release arm could be broken, or the release bearing.

But fist make sure that it's not just a slave cylinder thing not pushing the release arm far enough.

Any B-truckers near Rockin in Florida so he can compare with yours?

Maybe I can get some decent photos of my release arm in both positions.

Thanxs for all the help. It seems like the slave clylinder is not pushing the fork far enough to completely disengage the clutch. I changed the master and slave and had the same result as the old ones. I will keep messing with it just gald I have a backup car as the B is my DD.

I've had my 88 B2200 18.5 years, and I bet I've been through at least 4 each of clutch master and slave. But I've never had a new one be bad, you could still have air in the system...

Cusser, i hadn't either until that master we bought for Cortnye's. And we even drove for almost a year after we changed her master the first time. We finally had changed everything else, but still the pressure would just give out randomly, then more frequently until it just quit all together. That's when we said f it, its still under warranty, pulled it out, took it back to AutoZone, had them swap it with a new one and no more problems. Until the motor finally gave out that is.

Yeah, sometimes when this fails the pedal stays down on the floor, have had that happen, about a decade ago.
