What do most people run? One GOOD battery or 2 batteries. I'm going to be using 2 compressors, probely a 400w amp and maybe a fuel pump for a fuel cell if I get one. I got a 91 b2600 fuel injected.

thanks.

One good battery and an upgraded alternator like the gm 1 wire alternator or the mustang alternator would be fine.

i would run a 140amp 1 wire alternator along with 2 batteries.
if you run 2 batteries the 1st battery will be for factory electronics (engine, lights etc) the second battery will be to power the accessories (compressor, amps, etc.) you will also need to get a 200amp relay to isolate the second battery from the 1st so if the rear battery dies the front will still be able to crank the truck and get you home. also using the 200amp relay will allow you to charge both batteries at once.

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AN AMP WIRE RAN (4 GA. AT LEAST) THEN REMOVE THE FUSE UP FRONT AND INSTALL THE 200 AMP RELAY IN ITS SPOT . THEN INSTALL THE FUSE ABOUT 12-18 INCHES FROM THE RELAY.

IF YOU NEED ANY HELP INSTALLING IT OR HAVE QUESTIONS JUST PM ME.

I like the 2 battery option but being my first truck i'm doing I would like to keep it as simple as possible. The alternator seems the easiest. My next truck I build I'll use to batteries.

thanks.

if you have ever ran the wiring to install an amplifier for your system... then you can install the 200 amp relay so you can run a second battery.....it would take no more than 15 minutes to hook it up if you already have a power wire ran for an amp.

Ok.... so I'll run 2 stock batteries with 200a relay and upgraded alt. I red in one of these threads somewhere you can take ur stock alt in and have it rewound if that's what you call it. Would that work? If it could be rewound to say 100a output or as much as they could do, think that would work?

Where should I put batteries? Don't really want to put them in back of bed want to keep it as clean looking as possible. So I was thinking I could maybe put one in the stock spot and second one maybe behind seat between subs and build a box for it. Just trying to get some ideas. Havn't seen many pics of people's batteries.

thanks.

if you run a battery inside the cab make sure its a "sealed and maintenance free" battery (optima or kinetik) a regular battery might leak, explode etc..... i would run one in the stock spot and the other build a bracket and mount it under the bed somewhere....
as far as a "rewound alternator" figure out how much amperage you are going to draw at idle....
say 55-60 just for the truck
20amps for 1 comp or 40 amps for 2
i would get an alternator that can run at least 80 amps AT IDLE if not then if your compressor(s) kick on when you crank the truck and are just idling... there might not be enough current to sustain the truck and the compressor at the same time so just make sure you have a high amperage at idle.... if you run 2 batteries.... connect the compressors and the amplifiers to the second battery.... that way with the 200amp relay connected it seperates the 2 and will allow you to play music loud with the truck off without fear of not being able to crank it up when you are ready to leave....

Thanks!! that helps me out. Going to start with front battery here soon.

so does anyone know where a good place to get this 200a relay at? i've been looking around and have found them from like 140 or so all the way up to 240. is this a average price for this?

get a starter relay. they can handle it.
