I just put a rebuilt head on it. The machine shop said it was good (no cracks) and they completely went through it. I'm not losing any coolant so idk. After it warms up it stops which leads me to believe it's a crack somewhere or something worn out. It's really a light gray color.

man, i just put my new carb on last night and it got rid of all my issues! no more grey smoke and my plugs kept looking like those pics you posted. but not anymore. do you still have the stock carb or is it a weber? also check your oil level. and keep an eye on it. it looks like and sounds like it is running rich causing those plugs to look like that. mine was doing this too and if i leaned it out it would make my exhaust glow so i kept it rich until i got my new carb.

you say it does it until it warms up, could be because of the choke being closed sending more fuel through causing it to run rich, when the choke opens up letting more air come in you are not running very rich anymore. therefore when it is warm the problem goes away. i would definitley check that out man.

I'm still running the factory carb. I can't wait to get a weber and header. I changed the o2 sensor today and that was definitely not it. Kind of a long shot but 18 bucks ain't bad. What Weber did you get?

Mine probably smoked worse then that, so bad I couldn't see the dash of the truck to get the camera to show you lol.

Ended up rebuilding top and bottom end of motor... Problem solved. Probably piston rings...

When the head has been rebuilt, new valve seals, valve grind and valve guide and it still smokes, it's STUCK rings due to carbon buildup in the ring grooves preventing the rings from expanding and seating against the cylinder walls.

I've had good results from a top engine cleaner from GM. Remove the plugs and pour the GM top end cleaner on each spark plug hole and let it sit overnight. Pour some more next day then spin the crankshaft manually with a socket and ratchet. Change oil then start the engine and let it warm up. It takes a good bit of driving to burn the oil in the exhaust.

If this does not fix the smoking, time for a re-ring job.

Since the temperature has warmed up outside it barely does it if it does it at all. Makes me think it's the carb. As soon as I get the cash I'm ordering a Weber kit.
