Okay guys heres the deal... i Got the carb rebuilt and the internals redone it ran GREAT.... then today i was driving down the road and it cut out... i was like wtf... then it started runnin again and i was stoked.... then i started drivin down the road and it just shut off,

Now when i Turn the key to get her started she turns over and just keeps turnin over untill i pushed the gas and then it killed out kind of like a backfire

So i drug it down the road and put on a new fuel pump hoping that may fix the problem... its a manual pump so we put some gas in the carb hoping it would fire.... again it turned over for awhile then POOF backfire and shot fuel up out of the Carb...

My dad thinks it may be that it jumped timing does anyone else have any ideas what it may be?

check your distributor and rotor button

you think it may be the distributor? when i popped the hood when it died it was a little loose... well the distributor cap was..... but would that cause this problem?

if your cap is loose it could cause it to run like garbage or not at all. you may want to go ahead and replace it too. it can cause it to burn differently on each terminal when the cap is loose. i had this problem too. i replaced the cap, rotor, and wires and it ran great. but i buy the lifetime warranty parts so i never have to pay for stuff twice. haha.

so that could cause it not to start? what if it dont look bad.... i guess it still could be?
maztang (ryan)   +1y
i doubt that is your problem but i would pull the plugs out and take a look, also inspect the rotor, it could be burnt pretty bad, and check the cap for any cracks.

man i have put like 1000 dollars in this FN engine so far already haha i hope its something simple i am getting SICK of working on it i love the cosmetic part just i hate the engine part.... and when i say the cap was a little loose i mean a lotta loose it was almost off on the bottom screw bouncin around alot.... any more ideas on what it could be? is there ANY chance at all its off time?

ok, if it was a lot loose the do like i said and pull the plugs and clean them or replace them, buy a new cap and rotor, and you should be back on the road. mine did this too. i changed this stuff out and it fixed my problem. the only other problem that i had that sounded similar was when my needle in the carb went bad.
