ok, so heres the deal, my truck quit running, i know i know, why dont i just fix it? ive tried, im about at my wits end with this thing
a couple weeks ago i was driving down the road (about 30 mph) when it started dying... i feathered the gas and clutched and braked with my left foot until i got it home, i figured it was the fuel pump so replaced that with a new one as well as the filter, when it still wouldnt run right i drained the tank and refilled it (thinking i had a spiteful ex on my hands) still no go, then i swapped carbs with a recently rebuilt carb hoping maybe that was the case, no go there either...
today i replaced the cap rotor plugs and wires thinking i was looking in the wrong place and it was actually electrical (3 of four plugs were fouled, looking like the electrode was dipped in an ashtray and the fourth was loose to the point that i unscrewed it by hand)
i fired the truck up again today, it idled better than ever before, hoping all was well i took it out for a test drive, made it about a 1/4 mile then everything started happening again, the truck bucks like its miss firing, then runs like its choking out with too much fuel, if i feather the throttle i can limp it home but it dies as soon as i let off, then fires right back up in the driveway... also, i can throttle up in the driveway and it'll run like a champ just not under load....
somebody please help me before i light this thing on fire!
