100 gm 1 wire questions

Which model are you using for the 100 amp alternator? i did a search and found a ton of different models. any help would be appreciated. Also there almost a direct bolt in application right? just make a bracket or 2?

im in the process of ordering a custom wound stock replacement from . its 170 amp.

r yall doing the alt. upgrades for stereo systems or performance?

Upgrading for more power for the stereos and or electric compressors. The stock alts are only like 55 amps, not much power for anything else

theres someone on here using a mustang alt. think its around 150 amps... not much mods to install and its only around $130

Ok i'm cunfused. I just got my Gm 1 wire from a guy and it has the CS130 Casing Style which is completely different from stock. Who here is atually running a 1 wire GM and who could give a tutorial on how to mount this sucker. I was considering flipping the alternator upside down and flipping the top bracket from end to end to do it but I don't wanna bore the bolt hole incase this doesn't work for me. Then i'm stuck with a CS130 140amp .

Is this the "1 Wire GM" everyone is using? It's the same style as a 10SI or 12DI or whatever those models are called.

Question is how do you bolt it up properly to the engine mount on the bottom?

i know that marcus is running a gm 1 wire... i have been asking the same question about the model to get ever since i joined this forum and the answer i always get its one out of a gm.... not much help there...... hope you find your answer and when you do please inform me with a pm.... thanks in advance

My bad man, I dont have a part number for mine, I had an alternator shop build it for me, Ever parts store I went to sold me a "one" wire and all of them have been 3-wire.. so I dont have a number for ya man, Im sorry bro. My smog guy told me Toyotas alt's are a one wire and are like 120amp also are compact and can be put practically anywhere, Just a thught

thats all i'm looking for is a serial number, theres probably 15 different style 1 wire gm alts out there.

So how do I mount the one I have in the picture I posted? The guy I got it from said he can get the same style casing as the stock one. I would have to drill out the top hole on the new alternator and flip it upside down and us the top for the bottom mount right? The only proplem I can see when doing that would be that the top bracket would be awfully close to the external fan on the alternator.

Marcus: Is the one I posted the one you have? Or do you have the stock looking alternator on yours? Once I get this in i'm going to do a write-up on how to do this so there's not 10 threads about the "1 Wire" .
