i have 1986 b2000 4cyl. i replaced the exhaust manifold with headers and replaced the original carb with a weber 32/36 dgev.

the problem i am having is that the carb is shooting flames out the top of the carb. i checked the timing, checked vacuum lines, checked the distributor all of those are good. the carb is getting fuel and the truck cranks but will not completely start.

Any help would be appreciated?

Mine has a similar issue... B2000 w/ hydraulic head (grrr), pacesetter header, Weber 32/36 carb.

Hard to crank, but does start. Idles fine, but spits a flame out of the carb when going from idle to WOT.

Timing issue I assume?

no it was not doing this at all before the modifications and i checked the timing it is good...it is also pushing fuel and air out of the vacuum ports not sucking the air like it should

Bud, you better check your plug wires are in the right firing order 1-3-4-2. You did not remove the distributor or the timing belt at all? When you said you added the header did you gut your cat out? because a lot of junk canget clogged up in there and cause that to backfire. unhook the exhaust. not the header, just the exhaust pipe from the header on. and try again.

i will check the timing and see if the is right i romved the distributo and timing belt but set the timing correct and put the distributor is just as i pulled it out and i am just running a header no cat and no other pipes

checked the distributor and it is 1-3-4-2 and the timing is still right

I got the truck running with some help from a buddy, the distributor was flipped 180. It is loud as hell with no cat and weber carb
