could this be a possiblity? i just went through 2 battery (optima red tops) and two alternators...could it be possible that not grounding out the head unit could cause that problem?

the headunit is a pioneer DVD7800P or something like that

well you're supposed to ground it...electricity needs a ground....

Either under the ashtray,or on the heater core is a bolt. Run your ground wire to the bolt and just hold the wire down with the bolt and you're all set.

i don tthink so. man it sounds like you have a live wire that is a constant and is drainning you dry

i know i am supposed to ground it but could that cause the alt and the battery to die
hunterw   +1y
no. if the deck works then its grounded through the adapter harness. it would not work if not grounded.

something is draining.you. or not hooked up properly. it would have to be in more of the core eletrical of the truck. everything plugged in the alty ok? the harnesses re all good?

with the deck unplugged i am not burning through altys or batteries
