engine still doing it please help

when i start it and as soon as i push in clutch and put in any gear it idles high ,then when i take out of gear goes back to normal any ideas anyone ??its seriously driving me nutz

how about checking the routing of ur accelerator cable under the dash?Its not hitting or binding on your clutch mechanism is it.there is no solenoid I am aware of that works as u describe on a 5 speed truck .there is on an automatic.bj

its stick ,but it only happens when i have clutch in and put in gear so how would that work todd?also any body have diagram of vaccum line routes tornados wont open for me

are you sure its not your foot pressing the gas when you put in to gear .. lol

I'm not sure by how many RPM's your talking about, but it should be obvious that if you push the clutch in to put it into gear you are going to have a higher RPM with a stick shift. Why? Because your freeing the load of the transmission gears from the engine when pushing the clutch in... Doing this should maybe cause a 200 rpm or so increase.

Does that sound about right or are you talking thousands of RPM's?

ok i checked it today ,when in gear something clicks on the carb then it revs higher and once it out of gear it goes to normal ,also since i dont know alot about motors should the flapper in the carb move when giving gas ?does anyone have a factory carb and if so can you please take some pics of vacum lines i noticed a nipple is exposed and no line on it

no the flapper is your choke it moves slowly open not with throttle

oh ok todd thanks, also is the jet inside other part supposed to spray gas whenever gas is pressed cause i cant see mine do it ?lol
