Weird..I had this same problem with my 1st X-cab. Push in the clutch and the idle goes nuts. Release and it's back to normal idle. Ended up getting rid of the truck before I figured it out.

the only time will squirt out of the second jet is when the throttle is pushed about half way and only under a load is the secondary

it does it when the truck is in gear and stops when in neutral im really confused but carb makes click and sounds like ac is engaging ???then idles up

do you have a/c?
sosatheshark   +1y
i dont have an ac i do have a egc tho lol, also someone on mazdatruckin wrote this as a reply to me :The way I understand it, the system uses a switch in the transmission to tell the ECU that the trans is in gear and also a switch on the carb to tell the ECU that the throttle is closed / at idle. I am not sure why the ECU would keep the engine spooled up unless the idle switch isn't making contact to tell the ECU that you are not calling for more throttle.

Anybody else know the logic used in the factory ECU with the stock carburetor? thats what they wrote is it true

Weber fixes ALL the factory problems!!!!

LOL, seriously though, if the mazdatrucking guy is right, try this... jak up the truck, look closely at the trans for any wires that are connected - then unplug / disconnect them. If I am right, your backup lights won't work anymore (no biggie), if the other guy is right, your problem should be fixed. If hocbj is right, youll still have problems.

hmmmmmmmm.i noticed there is a ground going to engine and a some wires going to the carb from the tranny goes like undercarb im gonna have to investigate this more

There should be 2 wires coming from the wiring loom by the carb that going to ur tranny... I was having thisproblem a few weeks ago. it was my gasket between the carb n intake mainfold was suckin in air. Did u tkae some carb cleaner and check and see if it raised the idle up when it get some cleaner in it? I though it was weird when i was warming up my truck and when i put the clutch in it would raise it to like 250 to 500 rpm. just replaced the gasket and now it not doing it anymore. I think u have a vaccum leak that causing it to do that. I would also get up under there and look around for any loose wires. my knock sensor wire was off n i put it back on. could have been that also. fix that at the same time i fix my gassket.
