hello, i just bought a mazda and the guy i bought it from told me about this site. i have a 91 B2200
heres all he said was done to it

rebuilt engine
rebuilt ported and polished head
new weber carb, absolutly no emissions
flowmaster header, heat wrapped
accell coil

i've been trying to get this thing to run right but it just wont seem to, i have it timed to the book, adjusted the carb and it keeps ideling real high about 2-3000 rpm, about 16 mpg, some sluggish-ness, i was just wondering what you would suggest? i was thinking maybe cat? but he said its new and it looks new, but i do sometimes smell the bad cat rotten egg smell? could it be burnt out from the header already. if so why would it do that? thanks very much.

FIRST welcome t othe bscene.!! haha

i'd say get rid of the cat if you can. i have header and cherry bomb with some bpiepe and mine runs just fine.

if you want i can scan the weber paper about where the swcreweds are and you can try and adjust them. i'm still tryin to git mine adjusted as well but bein 20 degrees outside got me thinkin bout drinkin and not workin on the truck.

a bad cat shouldn't make it idle high. . . And if it was stopped up, it would get hot as hell. . . maybe even start glowin red if its stopped up enough. . Maybe the accelerator cable isn't long enough? ? Jus takin a shot in the dark really. . I don't have a carb'd motor so I don't know. . . I'm jus throwin out options. .

And welcome to the bscene. . throw up some pics of the truck man! ! pics are always verrryyyy welcome here. . .

welcome to the Bscene.

okay does your throttle cable have a little bit of slack?

next if the emissions were removed, look for any open vacuum ports on the intake manifold.

if that hasn't cleared it up pull a sparkplug, clean it off or put a new one in. start the motor let it idle how it is for a couple of minutes and pull the plug. Don't rev it or do anything just let it run how it wants to. Now look and the ceramic of the plug is it black, brown, or bright white still.

let us know what you find.

tried that, i have slack in the cable it was really tight when i got it, there are 1500 miles on the rebuild and its only very slightly brown still very white i did that just yesterday

^ So that explains where the sulphur odor comes from. Was always wondering what the correlation was between catalytic converters and the rotten egg smell. Always assumed a rich mixture - but you know what they say about ass u ming LOL.
