if the throttle cam fces the radiator, and choke faces towards pass, side its a 34/34 ,thats what i have, idle screw is right behind throttle cam,and mixture screw is on baseplate under choke, and high idle is behind choke but up highter its black

regarding the high idle - is that ALWAYS or when you start up the truck?
these trucks high idle when you first start them to warm them up, you can "blip" the throttle to drop it back down.. this is normal.. mine idles around 7-800 after i blip the throttle

see if that's the case

well right when I shut my computer off last night I thought about the choke, looking at your other pics it appears that you do not have a 12v. + wire hooked up to the choke. This may very well be the problem with the idle and mpg's. I would bet that your choke is not opening causing the constant high idle. Hook up a wire from the positive side of the coil and run it to the choke. See were that gets you.

thanks tweaker i'll try that. i have a wire goin from my choke to the back of the alternator. i just figured that was right? and jesse yeah when i start it it goes up to about 4000 then i hit the throttle but it still only goes to 2500 if i'm lucky.

so if your getting power to it loosen the three screws on the choke body and back it off (counterclockwise)

how I set my choke was when the motor was cold and it was about 28-30 degrees out side. open the throttle and twist the choke coil body till the flap closed and then gave it about another 1/16th to 1/8 turn. and then screwed it down. You might try that as a starting point. If there is a better way to setup the choke hopefully some one chimes in.
