Just out of curiosity, I was thinking of doing this also but wasn't sure what to do about the switching of the fan.
Do you just buy a sensor that screws into the block somewhere from the parts store and hook it up to the neg side of the fan power?
Where do you fit said sensor? is there a factory position that can be utilised or do you have to drill into something and braise a fitting in?

I ran the ground wire on my fan to a radiator bolt and the positive to the wire that runs out of the back of the alternator to run the choke on the carb.

thats what i thought too, but there's a difference. check out spal for example. they have different part numbers for pushers and pullers. i'd assume the just the blades are turned the opposite ways, and the motors they use are designed to run one way for the best performance.

Came across this. It's just basics of how to install and good reading.

Hope it helps somebody.

If you go to the parts store they and ask for an electric fan thermostat, the one I got was already wired into the relay. The sensor part of the thermostat hooks into the exterior of the radiatior, no sealing or braising. The sensor comes with radiator clips and you hook it up as close to the incoming fluid hose. Its pretty simple, the thermostat I bought is also adjustable. Let me know if you need more info.

I have a twin 10" flexalite, could have gone with the 12"er's but didn't have my new rad at the time I ordered the fans....some come push, some come as pullers, and some like mine and push or pull, you have to swap the motor leads, and turn the fan blades around....it also came with a relay/thermostat, which when wired in, it has a terminal that splices into the a/c clutch, so when the comp engages, the fans auto start, it also has a spot to wire it into the temp sensor on the bottom of the radiator, and one for a manual override, and an adjustable thermostat......there are a couple pics on like page 10 of my photo post thread.... and some of the oem fan clutch bracket, I just cut off the fan clutch pulley mount, ground it flush, and bolted it back on after a coat of paint....as for the belt measurement, once you put the bracket back on, and mount the alternator, take a string, wrap it around the crank pulley, and alternator pulley, then measure the strings length, and carry that measurement to the local parts store...the belts are 17/32" thick if I'm not mistaken, and in the neighborhood of 30" for that particular belt, but best measure with a string to double check...

I have everything on my truck where I can put it back to stock and not have to retap anything. I didin't grind anything or cut anything off. If it don't work or it f**ks up I can go back to stock bare none, ain't gonna cost me anything didn't cost me much.

I was looking at the same thing today I think, it has a little black box that mounts on the radiator somewhere and a probe that you fit in the top rad hose, then you run wires from the ignition and the battery and hook up to the fan and you're away laughing (hopefully)
So I take it you've had no problems with it if this is the same type?
I had a look at my rad and there's nowhere to screw in a sensor unless i find a piggyback one and fit it into the drain plug hole.
