engine help!!

im with my buddy trying to get his used motor to start
its getting gas and getting fire i know i set the timing right iv done it 100 times the vac lines are plugged for some reason its just turning trying crank but no signs of hope im thinking it has to be something small its a 2.2 motor any one got any fresh ideas? thanks Caleb

OK.....Just check and make sure that the head gasket isn't shot. Mine was turning over, getting gas, and had spark. But the head and gasket was so shot that it leaked antifreeze into the cylinder....yeah no running there. Good luck and keep us posted.

Your getting spark to the coil or did you check it at the plugs?

ok well the water aint hooked up his oil is milky looking though the plug is getting fire so yeah the coil deff is if the head gasket is shot would it not start?

I would think the head gasket is gone. If you dont have compresion it wont fire and if theres water in the cylinder it will tough to start. Milky oil aint good!!

Yummy milky oil. Yeah I had oil and water in my cylinder and serious lack of compression. The head was soo deteriorated. I would start with pulling the plugs to see if they have antifreeze on them. Lets just say I filled my radiator...tried to start it for like 30 min. Then next day checked and rad was empty...was like what the hell...filled it again...then tried to start her...well eventually pulled one of the plugs....found my water and antifreeze.

hmmm...I overheated the other night and blown rad.....and now just today I pulled the plugs and replaced along with cap and rotor and a new rad and coolant.....keeping finding low coolant but not seeing ANY SIGNS of a blown HG.....not finding coolant anywhere....and now I got some weird ticking....and I see my temp gauge rising for the first time since I bought her....very strange....gonna go shopping for whatever I am gonna put in there for a replacement engine.

Not meaning or trying to to threadjack......but this kinda tips on my whole thing I got going as well.

so my list of parts now is

radiator, thermostat, gaskets, plugs, wires, cap and rotor....and soo to be a heater core

OK!! just put a new head gasket on and still the same thing im really stumped have no clue what else it could be anyone got any new ideas?

Did you have the head checked and resurfaced? What about the intake... they will crack and leak water in.

Will this cause hard starting and running issues like valves ticking? I have some ticking and now noticing my temp gauge climbing...and with the hot weather coming that makes me nervous....I am gonna bypass my heater core for the moment and see if that helps water flow thru the engine since I only get a dribble thru the core now as it is and its a bad time to get a heater core for me at the moment.
