I would like to test the O2 sensor, if you'd guide me through the procedure. It looks like another new part, but who knows. When the previous owner blew the head gasket it may have been damaged.

That is some damn good help their guys. I never saw an answer to the question of removing the stock emissions, the answer is absolutely not without a Weber.
Your best solution is to get a Weber 32/36 with a pace setter header. I got 32mpg on my way down to Austin, running 70-75 out of my 92 b2200. That is better than what my 06 xB gets.
I understand that you already have money invested in the rebuilt carb, but put that piece on ebay, for some reason people actually want them, and will pay good money for them.

Results of O2 sensor test:
1: .835 - .857 @ idle
2: Goosed the idle several times, and saw reading dip to the .650 range.
3: A shot of starting fluid (aerosol ether) to a steady 2500rpm (reading stabalized to .845 range) gave instant results on meter reading, but numbers dropped to .700 range instead of climbed. Reading then jumped immediatly back to .845 range.
4.Pulled one vacuum line @2500 rpm, and reading dipped from .845 to .745 immediatly, and then recovered quickly.
It seems that the O2 sensor is doing what it is supposed to, and seems to be reacting quickly.
In step number three though, the reading dropped instead of climbed when I gave it a shot of starting fluid. Not sure what that means.
Running rich maybe?

I bought the truck about 2 1/2 months ago. It was non-op w/a blown head gasket / warped head. Installed new head (brand new casting), and fel-pro gasket.
Had the exhaust manifold off the truck during this and got a nice clear look at the pre cat. It was clean/clear/and unmelted.
It's a 5-speed.
I used my digital multi tester for the 02 test, dwell meter was not hooked up.
Timing belt looks newer, and timing is dead on according to the chiltons manual.
High float level, I hadn't thought of that. I'll check it.
If I can't get time to do it tomorrow, it may be a week or so before I can get a compression test completed.
Thanks again for the continuing help. I'll keep you posted.

has anyone used or does anyone have one of these? for that price and if it works on a 2.2 that would be golden!
