Mahalo for all the info... I am beginning to think a full motor swap may be easier (and cheaper) that trying to turbo the stock b22. Thanks for da gouge! Guess I will just put my header on this weekend and roll it till she blows! Then score a 4.3 V6 and do a swap! That should generate enough power and sound like a monster!

When I put the Pacesetter header on my origional FE motor (2.0) it was the biggest performance improvement I saw before the motor swap. Many years and thousands of dollars later I sometiems wish I had bought the $500 weber side-draft kit for it and just left it at that! LOL

I didn't notice you were in Honolulu! I forgot how to say your welcome in 'da kine! I lived in Kaimuki and Hawaii Kai for 2yrs myself.

If your interested in a motor that bolts in check out the FE3. Theres a buildup thread on mx6.com of a b2200 with a FE3 thats like 385 hp. Hes got a full build thread and index of parts and info on FE3's. Check it yo:

^^I'd like to know where you would have gotten a side draft kit for $500, that must have been way back in the day...I've seen kits for yota 22r motors etc, but never an off the shelf kit for the mazda's...heck I've got that much in jets/e-tubes etc trying to get the tune right on my side drafts, heck just a quick tabulation, $800 for the carbs & linkage kit, another $1200 for one of the two mani's plus the jets, I coulda done a sweet turbo setup for that much!

I have the Weber and the header but... gotta make time to slap the header on. I know that can on the end of the manifold wont let my lil deuce duece breathe so.. that should help. I got a MSD Blaster coil too, that should sweeten up the spark! Every lil bit helps! I went from a slammed 67 stepside with a built 350 back to the Mazda so... I am trying to get all I can out of it to make "me" feel better! ROFLMAO!

Ya, Hawaii is kick ass, I love it out here. Lotsa old school mini's out here.

. . . maybe the other member will have something to offer . . . I don't do the "color outside the lines" thing very well. . .

It would be like asking me to describe how to put a turbine engine in a Pinto.

Or a tricycle.

sorry

I have read a few places that a Probe GT or a 626 downpipe will bolt up the a stock B22 head... if thats the case, all I would need to do is find a one of those set ups and bolt it up.. might just have to work the oil line right? Once I have the basics set up off a stock set up, I could modify with aftermarket stuff... right?

Stock motors are 8.6:1 compression.

Turbo motors are 7.5 or something to one.

Turbo pistons are a lot different from stock carburated units.

You bolt a turbo up to a stock motor and you will be going "whee, or sh**, why did my motor get so quiet all of a sudden?"

And then you will be picking up pieces of detonated engine parts.

This is one of the reasons I don't color outside of the boxes very often.

this is been done b4 u can run 7-8 psi of boost on this motor on stock internal and they can handle it as long ur running a right mixture gotta be a lil richer to help the piston cold down as long it isn't running lean it wont detonate and they do make decent power boost it too the only problem is u might spend a lot more money trying to turbo the engine than doing an engine swap

I did a F2T swap from a 89 Probe GT,partial list is an adapter to flip the intake,I used Mega Squirt to control injection, LCI wide band O2 sensor,Ford EDIS 4 to spark it ,built my own exh. maniold,am runnig the VJ11 turbo but it is small, runs a lot of heat(1150 to 1350 f on the backside )it looks like this
