hey all, been forever since ive been on here, but im bringing the truck out of the shed for the first time in almost two years. so time for some upgrades...and i was wondering if the 2.6 crank would fit in the 2.2 somehow, and how hard would it be to do this. im really wanting to do this rather than bore it out, but if its not possible then she's gettin turboed

it would make it a stroker motor, i have a blown 2.6, and i was just wondering if it will fit before i wasted my time tearing it down

It wont fit. 2.2 and 2.6 are completely different blocks.

well is there a ford crank or something that will fit besides getting a custom one built?

Mazda 626's, 2.2 Probes, and MX-6's that use the 2.2 engines are ALL built by Ford.

The short block is identical to the truck block, with the exception of the oil pan and pickup.

There are LOTS of all of them in junkyards.

So that is a source for a replacement crank.

If you are careful with a micrometer you might find one that is within specs and not needing much.

Or, a machine shop might have one or could do yours and usually a reman includes all the bearings.

It really isn't clear to me what you expect to accomplish with your idea of "stroker."

The stock 2 liter develops 80 hp.
The stock 2,2 liter develops 86 hp.
The 2.2 displaces 200 more cc, and develops an extra 5-6 hp to do it.
Where it really helps is the extra torque it provides. . . 15 ft/lbs.
It already IS the "stroker" motor, if you are intending to create a longer "stoker" motor.
The pistons can't go any higher than they already do.

Anyone that I have ever run into that builds "stroker" motors usually installs a shorter throw crankshaft, because they want to DECREASE reciprocating inertial loading due to racing demands at higher RPMs on the track. They don't need the additional torque. They add things like aluminum flywheels and replace the iron valve keepers with titanium due to weight (mass) reduction.

If what you are wanting to do is destroke your 2.2, find a crank from a 2.0 liter Kia or an 2.0 early 626 / B-2000. Anything FE most likely will bolt up directly.

but how much are we talkin, cuz i found a running 2.0 from a 95 626 with the 16 valve head at my shop. and also, what all could i use, or need to use to do this properly
