Rebuild or Swap

What to do, what to do? I got a locked up 2.6 that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. I found a full rebuild kit for it for $165. The motor is locked up from sitting. On the other hand I also found a whole 2600i 4x4 ext cab for $500. The motor in it is not the original and the mileage is unknown but it will give me other parts for my truck. The donor is rusty cause it's been a farm truck for a couple yrs. My truck is a clean and rust free 2wd 2600i ext cab.

What do all think I should do. Rebuild mine or swap in the other engine. Will the motors swap between a 2wd and a 4x4, they are both 92' model yrs. Mine's a auto and the donor is a 5spd.

heres an idea... swap your non rusted metal onto the 4x4 truck, lift it some, mudd tires and have a bitchin 4x4maz

i say fill the cylinders with marvel mystery oil or 3 in 1 oil via the spark plug holes, let it sit for a week and see if it frees up. done this once with a cb400 i had worked like a charm! but still get the truck for $500 cant beat that deal!!!

I wana keep my clean 2wd cause I'm going to bag it, already have everything to do it. B22dawg it's a good idea but the frame on the 4x4 is swiss cheese. If I use the marvel trick I'll still have to throw a seal kit in it cause marvel will eat all of them but non the less a good idea.

yeah if its frozen its probably a good idea to replace all the gaskets and flush the cooling system, and do and engine flush as well... its probably $100 for the gasket set(i paid $100 in WA) and the flush stuff is like $3 each, but still its alot less work than rebuilding it, but if the work dont get you down then rebuild it!! i dont have a garage so the less the better for me... plus im in WA state so having a sunny day is like winning the lottery lol


still get the 4x4, cant beat $500, just for the 4x4 sheet metal, someone wanted $350 for a bed on craigs list a couple days ago..

Well I won't be able to pick up the other truck till the 20th so between now and then I can tear into the one I got and do a bit more investigating.

As for marvel, it is designed to penetrate and eat things to free them up. That includes seals and gaskets. The rebuild kit I found includes a new gasket set for $165.

Pull your motor.

Swap in the other engine for now.

That way you have a driver NOW.

Bench build the locked up 2600.

You have no clue as to what you might end up needing for it. But you won't be standing around waiting and hoping for marvel miracles.
