^Its pretty much the same process for a b2600. If i remember right the difference between the b2200 and b2600 alternators is the plugs on them are different.

ok so one wire to the batter that sounds easy enough

all you need to do is flip it upside down, and it'll bolt right into the stock location, i bought a chrome 110 amp on ebay for 69$

Not sure about the 2600, but I know a direct bolt-on upgrade for the B2200 is the alternator from an F2T (ford probe, mazda mx6, mazda 626 (turbo models)). I believe the B2200 is a 50A (maybe it's 60?) and the F2T is a 70A.

If that's not enough, this thread has a lot of good info:

on my own f2t, i installed a millenia 110 amp alt. so if the f2t alt bolts on, so would the millenia. but the milly has a 3 wire plug. so grab the plug also. the extra wire goes to a Key+

Ok, sorry to bring up an old thread, but I figured it'd be better to ask here rather than start a new thread for the same basic question.

So I just did an electric fan on my girls 89 b2600i and I will be doing a pair of 12's with a 1200 watt rms amp, so I'm assuming the stock alternator won't handle it very well. The GM 1 wire alt swap: are there any downsides aside from no idiot light? Will the pulley line up with the other pulleys without modification? From other posts, it seems that the alternator needs to be flipped upside down and then it'll bolt right in...is this correct? Anything else I should know before starting this?

I'm new to Mazdas...lol

BTW, this is the alternator I'm looking at. Summit Racing GM 1 wire 12si

Have you compared a Mazda 929 or Rotary RX series alternator to your OEM alternator? I hear they are also bolt on with high output amperage. I did something similar on my B2200 with a 929 alternator as per the parts store counter man where I bought the refurbished unit.

I looked and couldnt find a high output 92 alternator...Saw 60 amps pretty consistently. Any more details on that? Any other input on that Summit Racing alternator?

If you need a 100 Amp Alternator:

Here's a part out of Rock Auto. It's pricy about $175 with core trade in.
The tricky part is confirming if this is the bolt on model from the 1993 RX series.
My advise is take your OEM Alternator and take it to your favorite parts store and ask to compare it. Bolt on position and harness plug. Maybe your parts store has this or order it at Rock Auto, it's a safe site I've ordered from them and I'm from Guam out here in the Pacific Ocean.
