1987 b2200. weber carb. pacesetter headers.

only the #1 cylinder getting spark

i have all new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, i did the cheaper parts first. ha still won't run...

i know what the ignition coil is and i believe the module/igniter is the the little black chip looking thing under the distributor cap....

what is the pick up coil?

how can i test the those parts?

how did you test the plugs? did you do any tests on the coil itself?

-i kept switching the the wires to see what would happen
#1 sparked on the power stroke
#2 backfired into the exhaust
#3 i pulled the plug out of the head, put it in the #1 wire, held it on ground and cranked the engine, plug works
#4 backfired through the carb
-thats just from switching the #1 wire to those plugs since i'm not getting spark from any other wires.
-then i switched all the wires and plugged them into the #1 on the distributor cap and spark goes throught them like normal
-i figured if the engine fires on #1 when its suppossed to then timing is good, it ran perfect the day before, that means the coil works, the wires are good, plugs are good, and the cap and rotor cant just go bad from shutting off the engine. so maybe its something inside the distributor.

hey guys i'm no expert so if i'm doing something wrong please tell me or if there is a better way to check these parts i'm not sayin my way is right or better. thanks

the distrdutor can go bad just like that had one do it to me,.... not saying that is your problom ..just says it can be but the way look at it start with the cheapest thing and work your up it may be the button on the rotor not hiting the inside of the cap right or there may be a crack in the cap theres lots of things that will make it do that.......you tryed all the wires on number one so the wires are try getting a new cap and rotor and try that

new parts include:
cap
rotor
wires

i don't know what else to replace except the whole distributor, $190

was the truck running before? or is this the first time running it after a build?

i drove the truck almost four years ago, then parked it.

two months ago i changed the oil, put a new battery and changed the carb and it started right up. got it registered and drove it for a few days then i had alternator problems.

last week i, with you guys help, fixed the alternator problem and started the truck, let it warm up test the alternator and battery, everything was good.

parked the truck in the garage and shut it off.

the next morning it wouldnt start. come to find out i only have spark in #1 cylinder.

since then i have drained and cleaned the gas tank, refilled it with fresh gas.
replaced the cap, wires, rotor, plugs, and changed the belt fan to electric.

what next?
